The OpenSpot antenna? 420-450 MHz. Ham 70cm band.
It is safe to use a yagi like diamond 430S10 or crushcraft ? or may damage the unit?
We have trimmed for frequency
As long as it has the proper connector to screw on it could be a 6 element yagi, it's really not fussy the more gain, and larger the antenna the further from your Shack you can use it, if you where to put a monster yagi on it make sure you use LMR 600 because at 20 miliiwatts it could get lost on a cheaper feed line.

I tried it out last year (with a DV4mini at max. output) with my Daimond X510 at the house roof. Length of coax cable approx. 15 meters. Radius was then approx. 1 km.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm not sure whether this is allowed especially in Germany because with this special combo and setup you act like a relay station. For that you need a special frequency and call sign from the government.
While you don't need a special license in the US, it is defined as a repeater here and should be placed somewhere within the repeater portion of the spectrum. I've done this, but honestly, even if I put the OpenSPOT on my 12 DB gain antenna, the range is still so small a footprint that I doubt it's ever noticed.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered one of these: HawkEYE UHF Dipole 433mhz antenna. We shall see if it works
